CMA CGM to levy rate hikes June 1 to Med and North Africa

FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM will increase Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates from June 1 from Asia to Mediterranean base ports until further notice but not beyond June 14, the company announced.

Thus, from June 1, rates to the west Mediterranean will increase US$1,000 per TEU, $1,800 per FEU, $1,850 per FEU high cube and $1,850 per FEU reefer.

From June 1, rates to the Adriatic will increase $1,050 per TEU, $1,900 per FEU, $1,950 per FEU high cube and $1,950 per FEU reefer.

From June 1, rates to the Black Sea will increase US$1,400 per TEU, $2,000 per FEU, $2,000 per FEU high cube and $2,000 per FEU reefer.

From June 1, rates to the east Med, excluding Syria, will increase US$1,400 per TEU, $2,000 per FEU, $2,000 per FEU high cube and $2,000 per FEU reefer.

From June 1, rates to Syria, will increase EUR$1,400 (US$1,560) per TEU, $2,000 per FEU, $2,000 per FEU high cube and $2,000 per FEU reefer.

And to North Africa, from June 1, but no later than June 14 rates will be $1,800 per TEU to Algeria, and $3,400 per FEU and $3,475 per FEU high cube.

From June 1 rates to Tunisia will be $1,700 per TEU, $3,200 per FEU and $3,275 per FEU high cube.

From June 1, rates to Libya will be $1,700 per TEU, $3,200 per FEU and $3,275 per FEU high cube.

From June 1, rates to Morocco will be $1,400 per TEU, $2,600 per FEU and $2,675 per FEU high cube.

All outports in Asia and the Mediterranean will be subject to additional surcharges, the company said.
