Japan sold 2.243 million barrels of bonded bunker fuel in June, down 4.5% from May but up 57.5% year on year, according to data released Monday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
While bonded bunker fuel sales were lower, the country’s bonded marine diesel oil sales were slightly better, rising 22.2% month on month in June.
Sales stood at 15,671 kiloliters, or 98,571 barrels, in June. Year on year, bonded marine diesel oil sales were up 99.7%.
Japan did not import bonded bunker fuel oil in June.
Bonded bunker fuel is exempt from import tax and can be sold only to ships plying international routes.
