FINLAND's Port of Helsinki container volume in first 11 months of 2016 increased 5.9 per cent year on year to 430,430 TEU, reports Varna's Maritime Herald.
General cargo throughput increased 1.7 per cent year on year to 9.77 million tons in the same period with imports rising 3.8 per cent to 4.64 million tons and exports down 0.2 per cent to 5.13 million tons.
The Port of Helsinki operates on a landlord basis in goods traffic, which means that it administers and develops the port areas as well as the enterprise areas connected to those.
In addition, the Port of Helsinki is responsible for the maintenance of technical systems in the port and organises the traffic.
