About Mr. Jagmeet Makkar
A unique combination of academic prowess, teaching and vast experience in commercial shipping (FICS), ship construction & conversions (FRINA), marine engineering (FIMarE), dispute resolution (MCIArb) and senior management roles defines Jagmeet Makkar's career.
Jagmeet is a Shipping & Energy consultant, educator and a maritime arbitrator.
He has been in the shipping industry for over thirty-four years. Jagmeet started his career as a sea going marine engineer, followed by over twelve years of ship management including shipbuilding projects in Korea, Japan and China, along with overseeing commercial operations at KC Maritime. In his time at Noble Chartering from Jan 2007, in very senior positions for commercial and technical management of shipping assets, he undertook newbuilding and S&P analyses, and was at the forefront of developing Noble’s cargo business in India. Jagmeet left Noble in September 2015 as Co-Head of Chartering & Global Head of Shipping Assets. He is a supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association, a member of the Hong Kong Maritime Arbitrators Group, as well as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Jagmeet is a regular speaker at international conferences.
Jagmeet, through SKILLSPlus Pte. Ltd., co-founded with Preeti Dubey, offers educational lectures, workshops and seminars including bespoke (as per clients’ needs) risk management, soft skills, commercial skills and legal aspects of shipping and trade, which require a thorough understanding and varied experience of the shipping industry.
