CMA CGM levies July rate hikes, FAK changes, overweight surcharges


FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has announced rate increases, Freight All Kind changes and Italian overweight cargo surcharges applicable next month.

From July 15 on the PEX2 service from Asia to Panama, Caribbean and Cuba, there will be US$1,500 per container increase regardless of the size of the box.

From July 7, CMA CGM Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates will apply From Jebel Ali and Khor Fakkan to Mombasa and Dar es Salaam at $1,275 per TEU and $2,550 per FEU.

This comes with the additional announcement of an overweight surcharge from Italian ports from July 1 to all eastbound trades, the Marseilles company announced.

It applies from Genoa, La Spezia, Venezia, Trieste, Trapani and Catania to all Asian, Gulf, Red Sea and India ports, CMA CGM said. 

The overweight surcharge - $100 per unit - is applicable to cargo units of 18 tons and above. Surcharge will be updated upon vessel departure enabling double check with VGM (verified gross mass) correct weight.
