The AADA also announced they have agreed to a bunker surcharge of US$275 per TEU and $550 per FEU for dry and refrigerated containers from Asia to Australian effective October 15.

The AADA said new charges were devised in accordance with the established review procedures, and that the charge would apply to shipments from Japan, Korea, mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to ports in Australia.

The new charge, said the AADA, reflects the recent increase in the price of oil at Hong Kong and South Korea.

Customers requiring further information concerning the bunker surcharge are advised to contact the member lines.

AADA members applying this new bunker surcharge are ANL Singapore, APL, Cosco Shipping, Evergreen Line, Hamburg Sud, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mediterranean Shipping Co, Orient Overseas Container Line, Pacific International Line, TS Line and Yang Ming.
