Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has announced innovative technology initiatives to build advanced infrastructure to attract regional and international companies and to boost investments in Dubai’s maritime hub. During INMEX SMM India 2017, DMCA will engage and showcase Dubai’s world-class maritime cluster to Indian and other international shipping companies. Technology driven initiatives like ‘Dubai Maritime Virtual Cluster’ and ‘Innovation Quay’ position Dubai as the future maritime hub for global trade.
DMCA launched Dubai Maritime Virtual Cluster (DMVC), which is an effective platform for communication with the global maritime community and enhances flexibility, efficiency and quality in providing a wide range of integrated services. The DMVC forms part of the DMCA’s effort to implement plans under the Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy particularly for improving the competitive elements of the local maritime sector to keep pace with rapid regional and international developments which serve the overarching goal of maintaining a safe, sustainable, integrated and revitalized maritime sector in Dubai.
Furthermore, to raise the UAE’s position as the global center for maritime innovation, DMCA launched, ‘Innovation Quay’ to capitalize on creative maritime sector development. The project is part of the DMCA’s tireless effort to support the country’s program to inculcate innovation in the domestic work culture and lifestyle; and promote the UAE as one of the most innovative countries in the world.
Speaking on the new initiatives, Nawfal Al Jourani, Chief Officer, Dubai Maritime Cluster Office, Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) said, “These strategic developments will position Dubai as the strong contender among the world's most important maritime hubs. These developments are built on the fundamental objective of upgrading the mechanisms of the local maritime cluster according to the highest standards of competitiveness, inclusiveness and excellence and attract foreign investments. It will also stimulate activities in the Dubai maritime sector and drive economic growth for the emirates.”
He further added, “We want to build a secure maritime hub for the world and are committed to create quality initiatives.”
