Shortly after India’s independence, the Company submitted a draft policy to the Ministry of Transport and the Prime Minister’s Office to handle the shipment of grains, fertilizers, sugar imports to India, leading to the establishment of “Transchart”, which until recently handled all chartering requirements for most Government undertakings.
