Reshamwala Shipbrokers was established in 1948 and pioneered shipbroking in India. The Company specialises in shipbroking and chartering to facilitate the trade of crude oil, petroleum products, chemicals, gases and dry cargo globally. Additionally, they are actively involved in sale and purchase, demolition, renewable energy and also provide consultancy services for a host of clients from both the private and governmental sectors.

The family’s roots in shipping date back to early 1900’s when they were involved with the import of bagged rice from Burma and coal from Lourenco Marques and Durban.

Shortly after India’s independence, the Company submitted a draft policy to the Ministry of Transport and the Prime Minister’s Office to handle the shipment of grains, fertilizers, sugar imports to India, leading to the establishment of “Transchart”, which until recently handled all chartering requirements for most Government undertakings.

In a constant endeavour to ameliorate the shipping landscape of India, the Company was instrumental in the setup of the renowned Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping (NMIS).

The Company has been at the forefront of the gas trades in India which it ventured into in 1975. Reshamwala Shipbrokers has been responsible for various Indian Ship owning companies’ entry into this sector. To date they remain responsible for covering a large portion of foreign flagged gas carriers chartered into India.

With offices in Mumbai, Delhi (NCR) and Dubai, the Company is the leading ship brokerage firm in India especially for the crude oil and gas trades and is a dominant force in the chemical, S&P, demolition and dry segments.

The Company is headed by Mr. Ajay Reshamwala who himself has over 45 years of experience as a broker. Over the years, the dedicated team of brokers and operations personnel at Reshamwala have helped bring the Company to its present stature.
