Abhijit Chaudhury has extensive knowledge of over two decades having worked in various fields of Shipping. He has been a Physics Graduate having done his Post Graduation in Marketing Management (MBA).
After spending initial year with Balmer Lawrie & Co, Calcutta he was inducted in Shipping with a position in Chartering team of India Steamship Co Ltd (ISS), Calcutta. He has been with Shipping Industry since then managing different portfolios.
Having worked from Owners desk in ISS & Gati Shipping at Chennai he was involved in Project Cargo handling with ULA (JM BAXI group) as Agents & Brokers and also worked with Japanese JV ECL PUYVAST, Chennai, engaged in similar trade.
Subsequently he has moved to Mumbai & joined major Steel makers & Ship Charterers ISPAT Industries Ltd (IIL), Mumbai as their Shipping Head where he was responsible for their entire Shipping activities including Chartering & Operations. After merger of IIL with JSW Steel Ltd presently he is in charge of their Import Operation of JSW Group which handles about 38 Million Tons of cargo carried through Supramax, Panamax & Cape vessels under various long term COAs.
He has in depth knowledge of Coastal Trade as he has worked extensively in Coastal cargo movement both in IIL & JSW through Supramax Vessels. He has surely got an enviable exposure of Ship chartering & vessel Operations from both sides of the spectrum. He has a regular speaker in various National & International Seminar / Workshops.
