Iron ore Exports from Port of Port Hedland Up by 2% during May

Pilbara Ports Authority has delivered a total monthly throughput of 62.2 million tonnes (Mt) for the month of May 2018. This was an increase of 5% from the same month in 2017. The Port of Port Hedland achieved a monthly throughput of 45.8Mt. This was an increase of 2% from May 2017.

Iron ore exports from the Port of Port Hedland totalled 45Mt, an increase of 2% from May 2017. Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 134,000 tonnes, a decrease of 15% from the same month in 2017. The Port of Port Hedland reported a record tonnage in a 24-hour period on 2 June 2018. Twelve vessels departed during the 24 hours, carrying a cargo of 2,398,423 tonnes. This was 187,599 more than the previous record of 2,210,824 set on 25 February 2018.

The Port of Dampier delivered a total monthly throughput of 15.9Mt, an increase of 11% from May 2017. Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 82,000 tonnes, a decrease of 11% from the same month in 2017.
