There Is a Steady Growth in the Number of Indian Seafarers Employed: Dr. Malini V. Shankar, (IAS), Director General of Shipping

We had the privilege to interview Dr. Malini V. Shankar (IAS), Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping. Capt. Virendra Mishra from The Shipping Tribune conducted the interview and topics of relevance about factors currently affecting the shipping industry were discussed. Be it concern about large unemployment amongst trainees & junior officers, impact of relaxation of cabotage and consideration by the Govt to do away with ROFR (Right of first refusal) on Indian tonnage, plan or roadmap to promote Indian Tonnage, Bunker Convention-our plans ahead to protect our coast, Crew change & shore leave for seafarers at Indian ports and many such questions were answered.
