Capt. Pappu Sastry is a well reputed CEO and ex Ship Captain with varied experience of Shipping and Logistics undertaking projects all over the world with various commodities and in interesting markets. He started out as a Cadet in Barber Ship Management and served as Captain on Ships with Fleet Management, Hong Kong. Capt Pappu Sastry started Nepa Projects & Investments in Hong Kong, a company that was well known for diverse business ideas in Shipping. Capt. Pappu Sastry has since been co-founder, Managing Director & CEO of several ship owning, ship operating and even Ship management companies in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mumbai, Dubai, Amsterdam and Washington DC. In 2015, Lloyd’s List, UK recognized him as one of the “World’s Top 50 Leaders for Shipping in the next Generation”. His innovative solutions to the traditional shipping issues have given him recognition in several sectors within Shipping, Insurance, Logistics and Management.

With a Global MBA from University of Manchester UK and a wealth of senior management experience in Shipping and Logistics, he has helped to diversify and grow several new businesses in niche areas of logistics that is unique trait to find among ex-ship captains. In 2022, International Bulk Journal awarded him the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He started Arise Shipping and Logistics (ASL) in partnership with Arise IIP Dubai only a year ago. He has nurtured ASL Dubai as a specialist mining logistics player focussed on Africa. ASL recently won the “Bulk Logistics Excellence Award” at the 2023 IBJ Awards in London. He is the only known CCEO in Shipping, a certification that is awarded after extensive involvement with the CEO Institute in Australia. He sits on the board of some public listed entities and is on the board of advisors for mining companies as well as private equity funds.
