The Indian Delegation, led by Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Maritime Administration, along with Shri Ash Mohomad, Deputy Director General of Maritime Administration, and representatives from the Indian maritime industry, commenced its engagement at the 137th Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council in London, being held from 6–10 July 2026.

Amendments to the IMO Rules of Procedure – India advocated for efforts to enhance the clarity, accessibility and consistency of the Rules of Procedure. India highlighted that any amendments should preserve the consensus-based and technical character of the IMO.
India remains committed to constructive engagement at the IMO and to advancing safe, secure, sustainable and efficient international shipping through international cooperation.
