South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) to improve coal logistics, railway rake provisioning under GPWIS or equivalent schemes, and integrated transportation services.
Working under the guidance of the ministry of coal to strengthen energy security and infrastructure, SECL is implementing initiatives to improve coal evacuation and ensure steady fuel supply to major consuming sectors.
This partnership aims to strengthen SECL's evacuation capabilities through dedicated rail logistics solutions for the power, steel, cement and core sectors. The agreement covers areas such as dedicated railway rake operations, integrated coal transportation solutions, multimodal logistics, first-mile and last-mile connectivity, and digital systems for logistics monitoring.
Under this framework, both organizations will jointly explore the provisioning and operation of GPWIS or equivalent rakes to improve dispatch and reduce bottlenecks. The MoU was signed in the presence of SECL CMD Harish Duhan and CWC Managing Director Santosh Sinha.
In the ongoing financial year 2026-27, Coal India Limited has crossed the 100 million tonne production mark. SECL is the leading contributor, producing over 26.8 million tonnes. SECL is the second largest coal producing subsidiary of Coal India Limited.
