Mumbai-listed Cochin Shipyard Ltd is set to win a contract from the Indian Navy for constructing six large survey vessels in a deal worth about Rs 6,000 crore, multiple sources said.
The state-run shipbuilder emerged the lowest bidder for the order by quoting below 1,000 crore per vessel, a source with knowledge of the financial bid said.
Cochin Shipyard declined to comment.
The Indian Navy is expected to announce the bid result shortly and declare the winning shipyard.
Larsen & Toubro Shipbuilding was the second lowest bidder on the tender.
