A brief introduction of Mr. Baffour Osei
Baffour is a Chartered Civil Engineer, and Dry Bulk Shipping Executive with over 29 years of industrial experience. His experience ranges from undertaking infrastructure construction projects, design of bridges, marine and river engineering structures and barging and transshipment of dry bulk ore in the West African Region. He holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, has trained with the Baltic Exchange and is currently doing the Shipbroker Certification with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, UK.
Baffour has been involved in dry bulk barging and transhipment in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ghana and has also carried out operational studies for same across most of the West African Region. Under his leadership in his previous employment, he successfully executed the 1st ever barging and Capesize transhipment loading of bauxite in Sierra Leone in May/June 2022 for Sierra Mineral Holdings Limited from Nitti Port on the Nitti River. In 2023, he also managed barging and transshipment of iron ore from Pepel Port on the Sierra River.
With his in-depth understanding of marine structures and project management, Baffour has undertaken numerous operational studies for barging and transhipment to increase the shipping output and competitiveness of Junior Miners in the region. These include barging and transhipment for GDM mines in Guinea, for CTC Mining and Sierramin bauxite in Sierra Leone, Canyon Resources in Cameroon, coal barging and transhipment in Mtwara in Tanzania and gas tanker barging and transhipment for Genser Energy in Ghana.
Baffour is currently the Chief Executive of African Bulk Shipping Limited, a shipping company dedicated to support barging, transhipment and shipping of bulk commodities in the West African Region. African Bulk also handles operations management and barging for Adhira Shipping and Logistics in the region. On the engineering and ship maintenance side, African Bulk has a partnership with B5 Limited, West Africa’s largest Indian owned steel product manufacturer and stockist, the Ghana Ports Authority and a host of marine services companies to provide timely maintenance and dry-docking services in West Africa.

Dry Bulk cargoes such as Coal, Iron Ore, Grain, Limestone, Cement Clinker, Fertilizers etc. play a very crucial role in a country’s economic development and shipping industry plays a very vital role in the transportation of these cargoes.
