APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) has signed a 25- year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with CleanMax to source renewable energy from a 4.56 MW hybrid wind-solar project in Gujarat. The initiative is expected to deliver 54 lakh kWh of electricity annually, reducing 3,822 metric tonnes of carbon emissions and aligning with the port's net-zero target by 2040.

The project, implemented in two phases, includes 3.50 MW of wind capacity and 1.06 MWp of solar capacity. The first phase, comprising 2 MW wind and 0.50 MWp solar, was commissioned in January 2022, while the second phase of 1.50 MW wind and 0.56 MWp solar was completed in September 2024.

Girish Aggarwal, Managing Director of APM Terminals Pipavav, said the initiative aligns with the port's decarbonization goals. "This partnership ensures we meet renewable energy targets and contribute to India's larger environmental goals," he said.

The renewable energy will support the port's operations in Amreli, Gujarat, and contribute to a 65% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2022 levels. The hybrid project, developed under the Third-Party Open Access model, also reflects the port's efforts toward becoming a certified "Green Port."

CleanMax Managing Director Kuldeep Jain said, "The collaboration highlights the role of renewable energy in enabling sustainable operations for critical infrastructure like ports, ensuring energy security and efficiency."
