Adani Ports & Logistics has formally prohibited vessels sanctioned by the European Union, United States, and United Kingdom from calling at any of its ports, sources said.
The move comes amid rising international scrutiny of Russian and Iranian shipping, particularly oil transported through the so-called "shadow fleet."
An internal advisory, dated September 11, 2025, was issued to "all ship owners, operators, charterers, consignees, consignors, agents and port users." The circular emphasised that "sanctioned vessels are not accepted at this Port or its terminal."
Since the US, UK and Europe imposed sanctions on Russian oil to curb Russia's earnings from the fossil fuel, Russian oil is mostly supplied on shadow fleet.
Adani Ports' orders aim to curb the sanctioned vessels from entry, berthing or use of port services and facilities.
