The government has named M Angamuthu, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, as the Chairman of Mumbai Port Authority.
Angamuthu, currently the Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Authority, replaces Rajiv Jalota who stepped down in October 2024 on reaching superannuation.
The appointment of Angamuthu was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
Mumbai Port Authority, one of the 12 ports owned by the Union government, has been without a full-time Chairman after Rajiv Jalota superannuated from service.
Sushil Kumar Singh, the Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority, has been holding the additional charge of Chairman, Mumbai Port Authority, since Jalota's departure.
