India participates in the 76th Session of the IMO Technical Cooperation Committee

India actively participated in the 76th Session of the IMO Technical Cooperation Committee (TC 76), held from 8 to 12 June 2026 at IMO Headquarters, London. The Indian delegation was represented by Shri Satish Kamath, Principal Officer (I/c), MMD Kandla, along with virtual participation from representatives of the Indian Maritime Administration Ms. Rehana Dhawade, Maritime legal consultant, DGS and Industry stakeholders Mr Kaushik Seal, (IMEI), Ms Archana Sangal, (IMEI), Mr Dilip Prabhu, (IRS), Mr Venkat B. Fellow (IMEI), Capt. M.P Bhasin, (MSC Crewing), Capt. Ashutosh Appandkar, (Principal, TS Rahman), Mr Perwez Khan, SCI (INSA) as part of the Indian delegation.

As part of its contribution to the Committee's work, India submitted Information Paper TC 76/INF.12, " Promoting Excellence and Capacity-Building in Maritime Education and Training ", highlighting national efforts towards modernization, regulatory reforms, and emerging technologies for developing a future-ready maritime workforce. Through the paper, India shared its experiences and best practices with IMO Member States and contributed to global efforts to strengthen maritime education and training through innovation, quality assurance and capacity-building.

On the sidelines of TC 76, Shri Satish Kamath represented India during the Roundtable Discussion with Mexico on Rights-Based Women Empowerment, where he presented India's flagship Sagar Mein Samman (Honour at Sea) initiative. The discussion provided a valuable platform to exchange experiences and best practices on advancing gender equity, inclusion and women's empowerment within the maritime sector through policy interventions, capacity-building and institutional support mechanisms.

India remains committed to fostering a skilled, future-ready and inclusive maritime workforce and to working closely with IMO Member States to advance maritime education, technical cooperation and sustainable development for the benefit of the global maritime community.
