New cranes to enhance APM Terminals Mumbai operations
The Zhen Hua 15 vessel travelled 5,300 nautical miles over a period of 20 days, reaching APM Terminals Mumbai in India on 28 April.
The vessel was carrying two ship-to-shore cranes and three rail-mounted gantry cranes.
The new cranes, with a 23-row outreach, will help load and discharge larger vessels in a shorter time, thereby increasing operational efficiencies at the Indian terminal, according to APM Terminals.
The installation of the new cranes is expected to boost capacity at APM Terminals Mumbai by 10%, reaching 2.2 million TEUs per annum.
