news-details

Odisha is setting the stage to showcase its maritime prowess and investment potential on a national platform at the India Maritime Week 2025 scheduled to be held in Mumbai from Jan 22-24 next year.

A preparatory meeting led by Usha Padhee, principal secretary of commerce and transport department, on Saturday laid the groundwork for the state's robust participation in the event.

The meeting, attended by senior officials from Paradip, Dhamra, Gopalpur and Subarnarekha ports, and other key stakeholders, underscored the strategic importance of Odisha's participation. With its extensive coastline and rich maritime heritage, Odisha is poised to emerge as a pivotal gateway for trade and commerce along India's eastern seaboard.

Padhee emphasised the significance of 'India Maritime Week' as a premier event that offers a unique platform to highlight Odisha's maritime strengths, policy initiatives and future investment opportunities. The state aims to leverage the opportunity to attract investors and industry leaders by showcasing its port-led growth and infrastructure readiness.

Discussions focused on Odisha's participation in the exhibition and thematic sessions, as well as the presentation of the state's maritime initiatives.

Officials reviewed logistics and coordination plans for the participation of ports, shipping lines and allied sectors. They also deliberated on the preparation of sectoral reports and communication materials to highlight key infrastructure and policy achievements.

Padhee called for synergy among all ports and departments, directing the preparation of a comprehensive action plan with clear timelines. The plan will cover infrastructure readiness, stakeholder participation and outreach to potential investors.

The goal is to position Odisha not only as a leader in port infrastructure but also as a hub for shipbuilding, coastal shipping, inland waterways and blue economy initiatives.

Padhee urged all stakeholders to work in close coordination to ensure that Odisha's presence at the event is impactful and aligns with the state's vision for sustainable maritime development.
